This week, we are shining the spotlight on Alex Tobiloba Sowale, a highly skilled professional currently serving as the Digital Communications Manager at Ikeja Electric.
With extensive training and experience as a Customer Relationship Manager, Digital Media Personnel, and Communication Strategist, Alex is a versatile individual who excels in various roles.
ADMARP: Did you choose marketing or marketing chose you?
ALEX: – It was actually a funny love affair because I was professionally into customer service, then one day I decided to just check on marketing and see how “she” is doing. She did not even allow me to say “Hi” before pulling a chair and asking me to have a seat. I have been in that seat ever since.
ADMARP: What is your greatest weakness?
ALEX: – I can be easily distracted, but I have been working on that lately.
ADMARP: What is the idea of you people have that is quite contrary to who you really are?
ALEX: – People always feel like I am proud and unapproachable, but it’s not true *teary eyes*… the few people I have met can confirm how friendly and chilled I am.
ADMARP: What can you describe as the most groundbreaking moment /period in your career journey?
ALEX: – When I finally and miraculously transitioned from customer service to corporate and marketing communications.
ADMARP: What is your favorite food?
ALEX: – As an Ex-Mayflower student, I think I can eat Beans all day.
ADMARP: What food do you think is the most overrated?
ALEX: – Pounded Yam and Egusi
ADMARP: Tell us something, an unpopular opinion about marketing that you think people should embrace more?
ALEX: – Marketing jargon doesn’t always make you sound smarter, or generate more business. Clients love it when you keep it simple, relatable, and easy to understand. Trust me, it doesn’t have to be as complicated as some make it out to be.
ADMARP: If you weren’t a marketing expert, what would you have done differently in life?
ALEX: – Definitely a Customer Service Professional or a Geography Lecturer.
ADMARP: What state are you from?
ALEX: Ogun state
ADMARP: What are you afraid of the most?
ALEX: Poverty and Marrying the wrong person.
ADMARP: Who is your bestie in the industry?
ALEX: I do not have a bestie per se, but I have gurus I constantly run to whenever there’s “gbege”. Tobi Adekunle, Abimbola Ogundiran, Oti Ukubeyinje, and Nsongurua Abasiakara must be tired of my troubles by now.
